Sotheby’s Auctions Rare Chanel Handbags and 90s Pieces
After generating some A$20 million from Karl Lagerfield’s estate, Sotheby’s will auction off a variety of rare Chanel handbags, accessories, jewelery and items, many from the 1990s and 1990s. early 2000s.
Titled “The Chanel Collection”, the auction includes 250 items that are all due to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s by March 24.
With the recent comeback of 90s-inspired vintage fashion and clothing, the auction offers luxury fashion enthusiasts the opportunity to get their hands on nostalgic clothes.
This chic pink bouclé jacket was featured in the Spring/Summer 1993 collection and is expected to sell for around AU$2,700.
If you are looking for a piece that looks like it came straight from clueless, look no further than this pretty crop. Worn by Kylie Jenner, this must-have black crop top debuted as part of the Spring/Summer collection in 1995.
This set of black and green jackets from 1993 was first worn on the catwalk by Claudia Schiffer and comes with a starting bid of over AU$6,000. Featuring a chain closure and printed silk detailing, this is a unique take on the classic Chanel jacket.
From classic flap bags to gold clutches and even a leather case bag, the Chanel collection also includes more than 100 bags from the French fashion house.
All in good condition, the auction is a great opportunity to invest in a vintage Chanel handbag. At the top of the estimates is this 1996-97 double flap bag which the auction house says could fetch up to A$16,000.
Encapsulating all things Chanel, the collection also includes a basketball, snowboard and surfboard emblazoned with the double C, which is expected to fetch up to AU$20,000.
