OtterBox Strada Series wallet case review for iPhone 13
The OtterBox Strada Series Wallet Case for iPhone 13 gives owners folio-style cover for the latest Apple handsets. It features a Shadow Black or Espresso Brown “premium” leather exterior (both on the back and on the folio cover) with a sort of hard plastic shell in a matte finish to match along the outer edges. The protruding button covers for volume and power are complemented by a beautiful metal plaque on the front bearing the OtterBox branding.
The flip flap uses a magnetic closure to close neatly and reopen just as easily when you’re ready, while adding extra protection to the iPhone 13 screen. The folio flap also houses slots for cash. or cards, but it’s quite narrow, so don’t expect to get much more than your most important bank cards or IDs without adding bulk to the overall experience.
Despite the casual and almost professional look of this OtterBox iPhone 13 wallet case, the brand claims it can withstand “3 times more drops than military standard MIL-STD-810G 516.6”. And judging by how I feel in my hand, it’s not hard to believe.
Here is a closer look at the technical sheet:
- Classic, distinctive and stylish flip case
- Premium materials are stylish, protective and soft to the touch
- Slim profile slips easily in and out of pockets
- Leather case covers the touchscreen for extra protection
- Cardholder secures money or cards
- Magnetic latch secures folio in closed and open position
- DROP + | 3 times more drops than military standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6)
- Limited lifetime warranty backed by hassle-free customer service
- Pair it with an OtterBox screen protector for full 360-degree protection
So far so good here with the OtterBox Strada Series Wallet Case for iPhone 13. Leather is actually a lot nicer than most options I’ve come across this year. Anyone who’s read any of my case reviews will know how much I appreciate cowhide that feels like leather to the touch, and OtterBox nailed it here. Some leather options almost look like smooth plastic, but it really looks like an expensive leather bag in my hand and looks better and better with every bump, hit and scratch it accumulates.
While I would have preferred an all-leather exterior, as opposed to the polycarbonate visible around the edges, that would likely have pushed up the price and potentially made the case even thicker (or less protective, depending on how you used it. ).
On that note, while I enjoy the implementation here, I for one really could have done without the OtterBox verbiage on the metal label mounted on the front. The label or sign is pretty on its own, but to me with the OtterBox logo on it belittles the overall look.
The magnetic clasp is definitely a highlight of the experience, but it also highlights this case’s inability to work with MagSafe equipment. I can get a Qi signal to go through the case, but not reliably, and Apple’s MagSafe Charging Washer will not work here without removing your phone completely. While this is somewhat expected from a folio-style iPhone 13 wallet case, it’s definitely something to keep in mind.
The OtterBox Strada Series Wallet Case for iPhone 13 is a solid option with some of the nicest touch leathers, as long as you don’t need the MagSafe charging features in the case. The real sore point outside of that, and arguably with the entire OtterBox line of iPhone 13 cases, is the price. It’s not a cheap deal, and Amazon’s listings won’t help you much. TO $ 70, this is definitely an investment and probably an investment that should only be made by people who specifically want a luxurious touch leather wallet case for iPhone 13 that is also very protective in the event of a drop, etc.
The OtterBox Strada Series Wallet Case for iPhone 13 is available for $ 69.99 in black or brown directly from OtterBox, or on the brand’s official Amazon storefront.
