High-end handbags auctioned in London | The powerful 790 KFGO
LONDON (Reuters) – A wide range of designer handbags are put under the hammer at a Christie’s auction this month, some of which are expected to fetch more than $ 100,000.
“Handbags Online: The London Edit” is open for auction until 23 November, with bags, luggage and accessories on offer.
Highlights include handbags in a range of colors by French luxury leather goods maker Hermes, known for its $ 10,000 as well as the Birkin and Kelly ranges.
Topping the list is a Hermes Birkin 20 Matte Béton Alligator, White Togo & Swift Leather Faubourg Sellier bag, representing the storefront of Hermès’ flagship store in Paris, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Released in limited numbers this year, the bag has an estimated price of 80,000 to 100,000 pounds (107,832 to 134,790).
“It’s very unusual to see so many bags at the same time because obviously every time you go to the store you won’t be able to see so many models and colors,” said Lucile Andreani, Head of Bag Sales at hand and EMEA accessories at Christie’s. Reuters preview Thursday.
“We have almost 200 bags… (items start) from 100 pounds and up to 80,000 pounds, so that’s a very wide range.”
Other Hermes bags include a limited edition Fauve Barénia & Bog Oak Kellywood 22 herringbone pattern, which sells for between 60,000 and 80,000 pounds and a brilliant Cocoan Porosus Crocodile Birkin 35, adorned with 18k yellow gold and yellow sapphire hardware. We see him fetching 50,000 to 70,000 pounds.
“Most of our customers use the bags because they are made to be used,” Andreani said, adding that the buyers were mostly private collectors.
Other items for sale include a Louis Vuitton Zinc Explorer trunk, dating from the 1890s and priced at 30,000 to 40,000 pounds, and a Chanel red carbon fiber surfboard, estimated to be between 6,000 and 8. 000 pounds. ($ 1 = 0.7419 pounds)
