Fernandina Beach Police Warn of Wallet Theft – Action News Jax

Fernandina Beach, Florida — Watch your wallet when shopping in Fernandina Beach.

This is the warning from the police department.

Investigators have received information about two men and a woman working together to steal wallets from shoppers’ bags.

They say the woman asks the customer a question about an item from the grocery store and lures him a few feet away from her cart, while one of the men pulls the wallet out of the customer’s purse.

They say the trio appear to be in their twenties.

They are well dressed and each wear a COVID-19 mask.

Police are asking shoppers to watch their bags closely while shopping and not fall for this scam.
