The sixth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) kicked off on Thursday as defending champions Chennai Super Gillies (CSG) took on the Nellai Royal Kings (NRK). The first match ended on the wire as Royal Kings won the match in the Super Over after the scores were tied. Royal Kings chased a 10-point target with a ball to spare in the decider.

Earlier, Chennai Super Gillies had set a target of 185 runs, and with five needed to win on the final ball, S Harish Kumar smoked a four to force a tie.

In the match, tempers flared when CSG wicketkeeper and Tamil Nadu senior player Narayan Jagadeesan was exhausted as he tried to drop back to the non-attacking side by Baba Aparajith.

Jagadeesan was playing great, but this sudden turn of events didn’t go over too well with the batter as he walked away after making a middle finger gesture.

See the video:

Jagadeesan has featured in 26 First Class, 36 List A and 45 T20 for Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, the wicket-beater keeper is also part of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings since 2018. He has made two appearances this season.

Back in action, NRK fly-half Laxmesha Suryaprakash (62) and Sanjay Yadav (87*) played with the bat as they propelled the Royal Kings to a solid 184/4 in 20 overs.

In response, Super Gillies captain Kaushik Gandhi (64) was the team’s top scorer. S Harish Kumar (26* from 12 balls) contributed with a useful cameo to level the score and the match went to the Super Over.

Over the years, the TNPL has been a breeding ground for several players as the IPL scouts keep a close eye and good performances see these players land lucrative contracts in the IPL.

Mat Watson of YouTube channel CarWow takes two ultra-luxury convertibles to the drag strip to see which one ends up being faster.

In a series of races and competitions between a Bentley A Continental GT Speed convertible and a Rolls-Royce Dawn, it’s clear one car is the continued winner, although they don’t seem to be complaining behind the wheel of either of them.

Bentley against Rolls-Royce in an unexpected race

Mat reviews the specs of both cars, with the Bentley making 660 horsepower with a torque rating of 664 lb-ft from its 6-liter twin-turbo engine mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The Rolls-Royce has a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 that delivers 570 horsepower with 612 lb-ft of torque along with an 8-speed automatic.

Before going down the strip, they rev each one’s engine to a standstill – the Bentley has great feedback from the exhaust while the Rolls feels noticeably more subdued in comparison.

Then they do a roof test to see which automatic convertible roof will open and close fastest, in each case the Bentley’s roof goes up and down faster.

RELATED: The breathtaking interior of the 2023 Bentley Flying Spur S will blow your mind

In the first descent of the 1/4 mile, the Bentley takes off with more aggression and easily beats the Rolls-Royce to the finish line.

The second time, Mat decides to wait to see the Rolls take off before pressing the throttle on the Bentley but again, the Bentley manages to gain ground immediately and beats the Rolls all the way.

In the third race, to compensate for the significantly heavier weight of the Rolls, Mat takes 3 more passengers in the Bentley and asks them to each bring a bag to hold on to to add drag to the Bentley, although even with one presumably fairer distribution of weight between the two cars, the Bentley still manages to take a victory, albeit by a smaller margin than in previous races.

Comparison of Bentley and Rolls-Royce 1/4 mile times

Looking at actual finish times, the Bentley completes the 1/4 mile in 12.1 seconds compared to the Rolls-Royce’s 12.8 second finish time.

In other tests, the Bentley had actually clocked a faster time of 11.5 seconds, making it faster than the Rolls-Royce in every test of the day.

In a rolling race from 50mph, the Bentley still manages to win, and it repeats its victory in a 100mph braking test, stopping significantly shorter than the heavier Rolls-Royce.

RELATED: Everything We Know About the 2023 Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II

Despite the Bentley’s faster performance, they comment throughout the video that both cars are fun to drive and look great as they cruise the strip.

While the Rolls-Royce brings luxury aesthetics, the Bentley offers more aggressive performance.

In the class these vehicles are in, both have their rightful place at the table; check out CarWow’s YouTube channel for more drag racing.

AMBER MORRIS/FOR THE EXPRESS People with umbrellas line the streets of Millheim in a torrential downpour to watch the parade.

MILLHEIM — Gray skies loomed over Millheim on Thursday evening as cheering crowds lined the streets ready for the first parade the town has seen since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

When the fire whistle sounded, signaling the start of the queue, it was almost as if it was also a green light for the impending storm and the raindrops began to fall before the first walkers only reach Fountain Park.

Much of central Pennsylvania was under tornado watch until 11 p.m., but neither that nor the torrential downpour stopped the show.

Area firefighters, ambulances, radio stations and businesses threw candy and despite the conditions, children waded through puddles to fill their bags as if it were a day sunny.

The real soldiers in the parade were those who were not immune.

AMBER MORRIS/FOR THE EXPRESS Charlie Boyer of Coburn tries his hand at the dime pitch.

Boy scouts, tractor drivers, church groups, twirlers, bank clerks and even a Millheim politician running for state representative all were directly exposed to the torrential downpour and did not could have gotten wetter as the water poured from their heads and ran down their noses. .

As the parade drew to a close, the storm seemed to be on the same schedule. When the last tank passed, the storm subsided.

As most people went home to change into dry clothes, the carnival started off a little slow, but it didn’t take long for the grounds to start filling up and soon the funnel cakes were sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon, and dimes were tossed. to the pyramids of fine crystal glassware.

The most important role of the small town “firefighter parties” is obviously to raise money for volunteer fire companies, but the sense of community they provide is just as important.

Getting together with old friends or finding your neighbor and sticking together to catch up, while you watch the festivities, is very valuable. It is grounding. It allows you to appreciate where they are and the simplicity of being happy in the moment.

Millheim’s spirit, their appreciation for the community and the support of their first responders were evident throughout the evening and came through even stronger despite two years of a global pandemic and even the risk of a tornado.

It’s not just the Millheim parade. It is the pride of Millheim.

RECYCLED TRAIL CELEBRATIONS: Trudy-Anne Doyle, Recycled Trail Organizer, and Kristi Brooks, Mount Gambier Library Team Leader, celebrate 10 years of the event.

Charlotte Varcoe

THE past decade has been a fairytale for organizers of the Recycled Runway fundraiser, with the 2022 event marking 10 years since its humble beginnings.

Promoting the reduction, reuse and recycling of second-hand clothing, this year’s theme of Enchanted Forests is expected to bring out the best in local sewing creativity.

Participants purchase a reusable bag full of materials they can use to create new themed garments, which will then be modeled in a fashion show on August 27.

Initially the event was held in conjunction with the Belltower Opportunity Shop and Mount Gambier Library as the finale of Environmental Awareness Month, but now the annual event is a well known and loved fundraiser for Mount Gambier’s ac.care organization.

Belltower organizer and volunteer Trudy-Anne Doyle said she didn’t expect the event to last a decade.

“At first we just thought it would be a fun idea to run alongside environment month and we did that for several years through the library, but it just got bigger and bigger until we couldn’t do it anymore because it was too much work for the library,” Ms Doyle said.

“That’s when we decided to accept him as a fundraiser for ac.care and even though we weren’t sure it would be successful, we just accepted him and he’s since become this that he is now.”

Ms Doyle said she was excited to see what candidates would come up with to incorporate the theme this year.

“We’ve sold a lot of bags so far which is fantastic and a lot more schools and new faces have joined in as well,” she said.

“The theme has gained popularity and everyone loves it because it is quite broad and has lots of options.

“If people make a mistake with some of the clothes in the bag, they can come into the store and chat with volunteers and we can find something similar to use instead because we really want people to have the opportunity to do their best.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Ms Doyle said a number of personalities were also invited to the event, including Mount Gambier Library Team Leader Kristi Brooks, who helped organize the event over the first years.

Ms Brooks said she thought it was wonderful to see the event become an annual highlight for many people.

“It’s been a great way to showcase local talent and the incredible skills of locals as they piece together amazing outfits from bags that would normally go to landfill,” Ms Brooks said.

The bags are still available for sale in the Opportunity store while supplies last, with all completed outfits to be returned to the Belltower store by August 1.

A Paraguayan mobster known as ‘Gordito Lindo’, which translates to ‘Cute Chubby Man’, has dressed up as a woman and walked out of one of Paraguay’s most notorious prisons.

CCTV footage from Tacumbú National Penitentiary shows the mobster, real name César Ortiz, wearing a long blue skirt, makeup, nail polish, wig and face mask, exiting through the front door with several packed plastic bags.

He was reportedly visited by a woman who allegedly smuggled clothing and paraphernalia into the prison.

Authorities said the mobster was able to pass through several checkpoints without suspicion.

Ortiz, however, was picked up a few blocks from the jail, along with three other people, who allegedly helped him escape and intended to move him to a safe house.

Ortiz is believed to be a high-ranking member of Paraguay’s most powerful local criminal group which controls several prisons in the country.

Edgar Olmedo, Paraguay’s justice minister, told local media that the prison director and other Tacumbú officials were being investigated as possible accomplices.

“The prison officers opened the exit doors for this person. Obviously laziness is shown, whether it’s inexperience or negligence,” Olmedo said. “No one can enter the prison without being identified, and no one can leave the prison without being identified either.”

Scheffler won three times at the start of this year to take control of the No. 1 ranking, then he picked up his first major victory at the Masters. In his last start, Scheffler lost the Charles Schwab playoff challenge to Sam Burns.

Thomas, on the other hand, fought consistently this year before triumphing at the PGA Championship in Southern Hills for his second Wanamaker Trophy. These two players edged out McIlroy as pre-tournament favorites.

Hours after covering “The Emperor” in spectacular fashion, the 23-year-old champion took to the social media platform and posted a brief music video for his fans. The champion appeared showing his wealth through jewelry. He did the same after outclassing Joseph Diaz in the previous fight.

In the clip, “The Dreamer” appeared with a person who provided the information regarding the jewelry purchased by Haney.

He said, “Undisputed field we said every fight we get another Richard but we have two Richards so this time we go to the paddock 59.80 Rolls d’or and then we have a big ‘DHP’ emerald coins and we have 18 pieces for the team come and get it.”

The clip also showed Haney flaunting her collection with dark glasses, a printed white t-shirt, several necklaces around her neck, a ring and an expensive watch.

He added, “It was just that I like the team with the DHP parts and a lot of RM, but this product is different.”

In the last part of the video, the other person in the clip ended by saying: “We left Australia with all the belts.”

Notably, her handful of social media and other images circulating the internet show that Haney loves jewelry and invests a large sum to buy it.
