Jordanian culinary artist and molecular gastronomer, Omar Sartawi, has designed a luxury handbag made from orange peels. The idea behind the creation is to manufacture high-end luxury products that respect the environment.

Omar explained the steps he takes to make the goods in a video. He buys the peels and starts processing them in different stages for two weeks. Later, he uses a process called digital fabrication to create the design he wants and then cuts it with a laser.

The culinary artist also informed that he designed face masks and tents made of eggplant leather. “One of the things I am currently working on is transforming the leather of fruits and vegetables in new ways, so that it is used as an environmentally friendly material, into luxury brands. We can create extravagant products with modern designs using available technologies. I use it in fashion, accessories, high-end bags and furniture, ”Omar told Reuters.
